Anduril's Barracuda M-500 missile

The AGM-114 Hellfire is one of the most effective weapon systems in the U.S. military’s arsenal. But now there is a new munition by Anduril that is like a Hellfire on steroids.

Among Anduril’s new Barracuda line of munitions and unmanned aerial systems, there is the M-500 cruise missile. Although rather small for a cruise missile, the M-500 packs a great destructive capability and an extremely long range.

“Anduril Industries’ new Barracuda line of UAV and cruise missiles has garnered a great deal of attention in recent months, but most of our discussions have been specific to the largest of these new weapons, the M-500. But a closer look at the smallest of Anduril’s cruise missile offerings reveals a Hellfire-class competitor with twice the explosive power and more than 20 times the range,” Allex Hollings, Sandboxx News’s Editor-in-Chief and host of AirPower on YouTube, said in a recent video.

As the U.S. military is getting ready for a near-peer conflict with China or Russia, munitions like the M-500 are quite important.

Based in California, Anduril Industries specializes in autonomous systems and has been working with the Department of Defense for several years.
