SEAL TEAM 6 OPERATOR BECOMES SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER FOR ALL SPECIAL OPERATIONS UNITS IN PACIFIC

US special operations units in the Indo-Pacific have gotten a former SEAL Team 6 operator as their new enlisted boss.

The Pentagon chose Command Master Chief (SEAL) David L. Isom as the new command senior enlisted leader for the U.S. Special Operations Command Pacific (SOCPAC).

Command Master Chief Isom will be replacing Command Master Chief (SEAL) Timothy B. Boehmer. Isom’s last assignment was the command senior enlisted leader for US Special Operations Command North (SOCNORTH).

Isom has had a colorful career to include assignments to Naval Special Warfare Group TEN, SEAL Team One, Special Reconnaissance Team TWO, Naval Special Warfare Development Group (also known as SEAL Team 6), Tactical Development and Evaluation Squadron ONE, NSWDG Technical Support Squadron, and the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).

Isom enlisted in the Navy in 1987 and has deployed numerous times during Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as deployments throughout the Pacific and the Horn of Africa.

His military education and training include Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training, the Command Master Chief Course, the Joint Special Operations Senior Enlisted Academy, and the SOCOM Summit Course for Senior Enlisted Leaders.

Isom holds an Associate degree in Applied Science in Administrative and Management Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Studies and Defense Analysis.

Isom’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Stars with Valor, Defense Meritorious Service Medals, Meritorious Service Medals, Joint Service Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Combat Action Ribbons, Presidential Unit Citations, and numerous other campaign and service awards.

SOCPAC is a sub-unified command of SOCOM and serves as the functional component for all special operations forces and missions in the Indo-Pacific region.  Operationally, SOCPAC falls under the control of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM)
