You probably know about the MANY military discounts that companies and organizations offer to servicemembers, dependents and veterans (tip: ALWAYS ask if there is a military discount before you pay for anything). But did you know that military families can also get things entirely for free? Here are ten things military members can get for free.
National Park Annual Pass: Service members and their dependents can get a National Park annual pass for free, in person, at a Federal recreation site.
Bible: American Bible Society offers a free compact Bible with 75-day devotional and flag cover for all servicemembers. You can also get a free 4-book series called “Journey of a Military Wife” that addresses some of the tough issues military wives experience.
Taxes: Military OneSource provides free tax preparation and filing services and tax consultations.
Recordable Story for Kids: Baby’s Brilliant is offering deployed servicemembers a free recording. Record yourself reading one of their read-along books and they will edit your voice in and send you the link to share with your kids at home.
Photo Shoot: Get a free 8×10 standard print from JCPenney Portraits, along with free session fees and 50% off your photo purchase with your military ID.
Newspaper subscription: Get free digital access to the Washington Post with a valid .mil or .gov email address.
LinkedIn Membership: Veterans and current U.S. military service members can get a free one-year Premium Careers subscription on LinkedIn, including access to LinkedIn Learning.
Welcome Home Banner: I’ve used these and they’re amazing! BuildASign.com has given away more than 337,000 Welcome Home banners and signs to military friends and families who are welcoming a loved one back from deployment.
Lawn Care: Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops connects military families across the nation to complimentary lawn and landscape services during deployments. SnowCare for Troops provides basic snow removal.
Tutoring: K-12 students in U.S. military families are eligible to get free tutoring through Tutor.com.
(Editor’s Note: Sandboxx News does not have a financial relationship with any of these services or organizations. This list is intended only as a useful resource for the military community!)
